ALERT: Email scam targeting Businesses using BBB name – BBB News Center
Be aware that there are many Phishing schemes out there. It seems even more prevalent during the holidays. Our wonderful SPAM Filtering (Securence) service pulls them out so we don’t ever really have to look at them. Except if I choose to review the Quarantine. Here’s what I found. Several attempts to get information using the BBB’s name.
The Better Business Bureau is aware of the Scam and has a notice here: ALERT: Email scam targeting Businesses using BBB name – BBB News Center.
As a rule NEVER click a link in an e-mail without hovering over it first. In this case the e-mail said ‘click here’ the link went someplace other than the BBB.
Another good rule is to pay attention to who or what e-mail address it’s sent too. If you’re getting an e-mail instead of Sally in accounting or John in tech support, chances are someone is hoping your curiosity will get the better of you. Don’t let it!
If you’re ever unsure, just call us. If you don’t have a SPAM solution think about signing up for Securence. When you do through Intelligent Designs you automatically get a 30 day trial.
